Penwood is an Amish custom cabinet shop based in the heart of Ohio’s woodworking community. Our name comes from founder Paul E. Nisley (P.E.N.) and reflects a simple commitment to dependable workmanship and thoughtful design.
Since 1999, we’ve been a wholesale partner with contractors, designers, and design-build firms to build and deliver modern custom cabinetry and architectural millwork that performs beautifully for decades.
Many of our projects involve complex custom work beyond the limits of many other shops, from creative built-ins to architect-driven solutions that don’t exist in standard cabinetry catalogs.

Every corner. Every profile. Every finish.
Stain is first sprayed on, then hand-rubbed with cloth to carry the color into every corner and molding detail, and to keep the tone even across the grain. After rubbing, we lightly spray additional stain where needed to fill in lighter spots and reduce natural variation from piece to piece.
The premium conversion paint or clear finish is applied with a handheld sprayer to coat detailed profiles evenly. This approach combines efficiency with careful workmanship - creating depth, consistent color, and a warm surface you can see and feel.
